Who am I?

Hello, my name is Neil and I like drawing cars.. among other things!

I am an artist from rural Leicestershire and live with my Fiancée Kerrie and our pets – “Mini” the Labradoodle and “Pandora”, the boss… erm… Cat!

I have always been passionate about cars and aircraft. Usually, the faster and noisier, the better... I have always loved drawing, too, but hadn’t ever thought I was any good at it until I was enrolled onto a Beginners Drawing and Sketching class, run by a local artist, in 2010. Once a week, over an 8-week period, I developed techniques and learnt that I perhaps had a little potential to draw some nice pieces. I did not want that course to end, but it did and immediately I signed up to a 4-week Open Studio course. Bring in whatever project you want to work on (Run What Ya Brung, in car terms!) and the teacher would give hints and tips and help you along the way. Those 4 weeks flew but it took longer to finish the piece. So, I worked on it during evenings and weekends and on Father’s Day, I handed my Dad a pencil drawing of his AC Cobra replica.

The next day, I posted a picture of that piece onto the UK Cobra Owners Club forum and within 48 hours, I had gained my first two clients. And so began Neil Gardner Automotive Art…

From there, I have taught myself new techniques, refined the finish of my works and applied these and new techniques to drawing aircraft, people, pets and even buildings. I absolutely LOVE what I do and, thankfully, it seems many other people do, too. This is something that blows my mind and I am so grateful for – long my that continue!

Thank you for visiting my website, I hope you enjoy your visit and that it can perhaps lead to me working with you on a project that is very personal to you.

With very best wishes,

Neil
